2017 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference began on Monday, 5 June and ends on Friday, 9 June. Craig Federighi, Phil Schiller, and, of course, Tim Cook, took the stage to announce updates headed to iPhones, MacBooks, Apple TV, and more.
Here are the main keynotes from today’s conference:
Apple just announced its latest 7-inch HomePod speaker that takes on Amazon Echo, Google Home and even Sono’s all at once. The HomePod is fitted with an A8 chip that adjusts the sounds based on your room size. It has built-in Siri and using Siri it responds to commands. Apple has priced the HomePod at $349.
Apple also announced it is upcoming iOS operating system that will have a more powerful Siri, phone-to-phone payment within iMessage, do not disturb driving mode and unique control centre that collates all function in one place.
In the new iOS photo capture has also been improved and it has better low-light performance. It also has an automatic safety feature that will turn on automatically if you are driving to prevent distraction. The app store has also been redesigned for better search and discovery.
10.5-inch iPad Pro
The iPad now will be available in three sizes with the new 10.5 inch iPad Pro. The Apple has also designed a separate iOS 11 that will enable the iPad to have almost the same functionality of an Apple computer. The coolest functionality of the new iPad is that it has 12 MegaPixel Camera just like iPhone 7 and 7 Megapixel selfie camera. It supports USB 3.0 and has 10 hours of battery life.
The iPad Pro available now and the shipping starts next week. The minimum storage for iPad Pro starts from 64GB at $649.
New MacBook laptops and computers
Apple announces its enhaced iMac desktop and MacBook pro with improved retina display, graphics boost, Kaby Lake processors, and USB-C. They will also have the feature that makes them compatible with VR games. The iMac Pro as well has an improved 5K display with improved cooling capacity, and 8-core Xeon processor (upgradeable up to 18-core,) up to 4TB of SSD, up to 128GB of ECC memory, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, and built-in 10GB Ethernet. It comes in space grey and will go on sale for $4,999.
Apple announces the new macOS and it is called macOS High Sierra. The new operating system comes with predefined, better performance Safari that blocks the auto-playing of videos in websites and prevents the websites from tracking users. It is compatible with virtual reality for the first time and features tweaks to Mail, Photos and file storage. An updated file management system will be a part of the update as well, which speeds up directory cloning with native encryption.
watchOS 4 brings new Siri watch face
It has also unveiled new software for the Watch called watchOS 4, which includes a Siri face that can offer personalised advice through the day. It also has more with the fitness tracking, including a new user interface for the workout app and new integrations with gym equipment manufacturers. In addition, Apple has developed a kaleidoscope watchface and new character faces to join the Mickey and Minnie Mouse options already available. The new characters include Woody, Jesse, and Buzz from the Toy Story movie franchise.
